The Privacy Commissioner says Newfoundland and Labrador has some of the strongest access to information legislation in the country, but there are a few changes she would like to see.

Kerry Hatfield reminds that there is a review of ATIPP legislation currently happening in the province.
Her office is “adamant” that the model for access to information in this province does not change, but they do want to see some clauses clarified.
For example, she thinks clarification is needed around how and when information regarding workplace investigations can be disclosed, and they are also asking for the authority to review solicitor-client privilege so they can determine if public bodies are claiming it appropriately.
