A metro area man has launched an online petition joining the call for the province to eliminate the twice-yearly adjustment of the clock by one hour in the spring and fall.
More and more jurisdictions are dropping the change from standard time to daylight saving time – and vice versa -citing the disruption caused and how some would prefer to enjoy daylight in the evenings during the long winter months rather than the mornings.
The change would have to go through the legislature, and Justin Merdsoy says he’s hoping the provincial government is paying attention.
“Really, if you get off work and it’s dark out, you probably just want to make a beeline for home…but…if it’s light you might just go like ‘ah, you know, I’ll go out and grab that thing that I need.’” He also believes people will be more inclined to be active in the winter months if they have a bit of daylight after they get off work.
