A boil water advisory remains in effect at 5 Wing Goose Bay.
The directive, issued in September because of cloudiness in the water, has been extended as a precaution.
DND says high cloudiness in the water can reduce the effectiveness of water treatment and increases the risk that contaminants can pass through the system.
National Defence says while no contaminants have been found, the advisory will remain in place.
Required system inspections and cleaning is underway, but due to the age and complexity of the water system on the base, the work is expected to take time.
Those living and working on the base are being reminded to bring any water used for consumption to a rolling boil for at least one minute.
