Vaccine clinics for seasonal flu and COVID are now open across the province.
Those interested in getting their shots are encouraged to book their vaccines online through the provincial government’s Time for the Shot website.
Local pharmacies and family doctors are also booking vaccines.
Influenza is off to an early start this year. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says they’ve already recorded a number of flu cases – primarily the H1N1 strain – this fall.
Vaccines help to protect people against influenza and COVID-19. While you can still get infected, vaccines help the body fight the viruses off and prevent more serious complications.
The provincial government is also offering free RSV vaccines to those 75 years and older.
