The province has issued a tender for the first phase in extending the divided highway in central Newfoundland, a project that was paused after government decided to abandon the previous P-3 model to have the work done.
Government says the first phase includes subgrade construction from Grand Falls-Windsor to the Bishop’s Falls overpass, a distance of 6.2 km.
The province last year announced that qualified companies would be invited to bid on separate contracts that would be awarded progressively.
Design work on future phases of the project is continuing, and the next phase is expected to go to tender next summer.
The project is cost-shared 50/50 between the provincial and federal governments.
