The provincial government and the Health Care Foundation have announced the addition of two new MRI scanners at the Ambulatory Health Hub in the east end of St. John’s.
One of the machines was purchased through $1.8 million raised through donations to the Health Care Foundation.
The other MRI was possible with $3.45 million in provincial government funding.
Health Minister Lela Evans offered her thanks to the many donors who contributed to the effort.
“It speaks volumes about partnership, about fundraising and about every Newfoundlander and Labradorian out there that contributes (and) supports fundraisers such as this.”
She also acknowledged the support of the local business community. “Such as Browning Harvey, that step up time and time again that help us be able to provide health care to people in the province.”
She says having two MRIs added to the system will go a long way in reducing wait times.
