Those on the Avalon who have already put their shovels away for the year should probably consider digging them out of storage again.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Avalon starting this afternoon and into Saturday.
Meteorologist Tiffany Cheeks says snow will begin on the southern Avalon later this morning and will spread to the metro region by early afternoon.
The northeast Avalon will see the bulk of the 15-20 cm forecast with the heaviest snow coming down later this evening and overnight.
The mercury will be hovering around the freezing mark, meaning the snow will be dense and a bit more difficult to shovel. The snow will change to rain by lunchtime on Saturday.
