The RCMP file on the fire that devastated the Conception Bay North Shore last August remains open.
The RCMP Major Crimes division is being assisted by its East District General Investigation Section, Trinity-Conception RCMP and “national investigative resources” to understand how the fire started and if any criminal activity took place.
The fire, which started in Kingston, spread quickly in high winds, fueled by high temperatures and tinder dry brush last August. It eventually destroyed more than 200 structures before it was finally brought under control though a massive effort involving local volunteer firefighters, forestry personnel, waterbombers, helicopters and outside resources.
The fire in Adam’s Cove last May meanwhile, is still under investigation by the provincial government’s Resource Enforcement Division with the help of RCMP.
