The minister whose department is responsible for social affairs says they have a plan to accommodate the occupants of the old Airport Comfort Inn.
The Horizons 106 project in St. John’s will be no more at the end of the calendar year, much to the chagrin of some St. John’s city councillors who criticized government for what they see as a lack of a plan.
However, Minister Joedy Wall assures that all the occupants of the former hotel will be accommodated. Speaking on Your VOCM Mornings with co-host Russell Bowers, Minister Wall assured that all those who reside there, who currently number about 75, will have all the supports required.
He pointed to government’s plan to hire more maintenance and other staff to get the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing units in need of repair back in circulation.
“We’re working very hard to get the 340 or so units in question back into the fold, so we will ensure everyone at 106 Horizons will have a place to stay with the proper wraparound supports,” said Minister Wall.
