One of the prized rivers in the metro region is the target of a cleanup this weekend.
The Waterford River, which spans Paradise, Mount Pearl and St. John’s and runs through Bowring Park, collects a lot of things over the course of a winter.
The Rotary Club of Waterford Valley has taken the river under its wing, establishing a committee to oversee the cleanup and other aspects of development.
Committee chair Bill Stoyles says volunteers are welcome to pitch in tomorrow. They will gather at the parking lot of Corpus Christi Church at 10:00. He’s asking anyone who has even an hour or two to join in.
“Many hands make light work. It’s very satisfying to see the river being cleaned up,” Stoyles told VOCM’s Open Line with Brian Callahan.
