The Baltic III, a bulk carrier grounded at Cedar Cove for more than a year, has started inching its way back to shore.
Resolve Marine attached a series of chains to the hull of the vessel and has started to pull the massive ship toward shore.
Mayor of Lark Harbour / York Harbour, Wade Park says it’s slow-going but the work is progressing.
“I’m not really sure what distance they moved it” he told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan, “but they did move it somewhat.” He says the town is usually updated on Fridays and says the company “has a good plan put together, and they’re carrying it out and they’re doing really well with it.”
The vessel will be dismantled once it’s pulled to shore, and the parts trucked away for recycling and disposal.
