Back to school is an exciting time, and while parents and families love to share pictures of the first day of school, the RNC says there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.
Social media is often used by criminals and algorithms to collect data and the RNC warns not to provide too much information for scammers.
If you post a pic with a chalk board, make sure it doesn’t include identifying information like grade level, age, and name.

Keep the information generic and not specific, like ‘first day of school instead of ‘first day of grade 1’, and be mindful about where the picture is taken so that addresses are not easily identified.
