There has been a cybersecurity incident at Metrobus.
The incident was first identified on Tuesday, and Metrobus says it took immediate steps to secure its network.
While the full scope is still being assessed, the breach has impacted their Automatic Vehicle Location system – which provides real-time bus location and schedule information. As a result, some applications and services that rely on that information may either be unavailable or not displaying current information.
All other customer services are operating as per normal.
Metrobus states that information related to mCard accounts is stored on a separate, external system and is not believed to have been affected by the incident.
Metrobus will not comment further on the details of the incident while the investigation is underway. It says doing so could compromise the integrity of the investigation and recovery efforts.
Should the transit operation learn of any impacts affecting employees or customers, then those people will be contacted directly.
