Search and rescue helicopters were called in to save a person stranded on the Man in the Mountain Trail near Corner Brook.
The Bay of Islands Search and Rescue team received the call to the popular hiking trail around 5:00 on Thursday afternoon.
Nineteen volunteers took to the trail on ATVs, but quickly determined they needed a helicopter to safely transport the individual, who was experiencing a medical emergency.
A Canadian Armed Forces Cormorant helicopter from the 103 Squadron in Gander was deployed around 10:00 that night.
The person was successfully hoisted and taken to the hospital for further treatment.
