Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador is welcoming the exposure given to the province through the promotion of a new Netflix series set to launch this week.
A massive digital billboard in Times Square in New York City advertising the series Below reads like a tourism ad, inviting people to “Visit Newfoundland and Labrador” and features a rugged fisherman played by actor Josh Hartnett.
Chief project officer for Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, Juanita Ford, says the publicity is invaluable to the local tourism industry.
“There’s such value in that earned media,” Ford told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM, “stuff you can’t…go out and buy directly.”
She says “the influencer status of a major Hollywood movie star brings even more than you can put into a marketing budget. It’s great exposure.”
