A major thoroughfare in the metro region will be closed all weekend starting this Friday evening.
The Outer Ring Road from Thorburn Road to the Team Gushue Highway will shut down at 6:00 p.m. Friday and will not open again until 6:00 Monday morning.
The closure is necessary to allow for culvert replacement work, and will allow crews to complete that work in a timely manner.
There will also be some lane closures and delays throughout the day on Friday leading up to the full closure as the contractor gets equipment in place.
The provincial government says while the work could be completed with lane reductions in place, it would result in “several weeks of significant traffic disruptions,” while the full weekend closure will allow the work to be completed more efficiently.
