People should be on alert with the crafts industry saying scammers are taking their game to a new level as the Christmas shopping season kicks in.
The Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Christmas Craft Fair is less than two weeks away, and the organization is warning people about increasingly sophisticated scams involving fraudulent vendor opportunities.
The says scammers have been impersonating the Craft Council to solicit vendor applications and payments for the holiday event. Recent attempts have escalated targeting trusted community organizations, encouraging them to circulate fraudulent vendor calls on the Craft Council’s behalf.
The fair is fully booked, and anybody who receives an offer of vendor space should check directly with the host organization.
