The department of health has reached out to NAPE to meet and discuss issues recently raised by the union president.
Jerry Earle last week questioned the rosy picture government was painting about the health care system when many departments are understaffed and some facilities sit largely unused.
Health Minister Joedy Wall this week indicated that he had not spoken to NAPE because he hadn’t heard from the union, however Earle says the department has since reached out.
“In fairness, the minister’s office has reached out…and asked to meet. Because communication is two ways, government officials have to realise that that they should be reaching out to stakeholders, such as NAPE that represents a significant number (of workers.) Other ministers, Minister Conway Ottenheimer for example, we meet with on a monthly basis.”
“It’s not always about…NAPE or another union having to call the minister and request a meeting.”
