The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a bizarre series of hit and runs involving two different vehicles in the Torbay area last night.
RNC were contacted around 8:00 after two vehicles were struck on Torbay Road – one at the intersection of Manning’s Hill Road and the other at Bauline Line.
Both drivers say they were struck by a black Dodge Ram. The suspect vehicle was later found heavily damaged and abandoned near Martin’s Lane.
While officers were still on the scene, they were alerted to two more hit and run collisions – this time involving a black Honda Civic in the area of Evening’s Path. The driver of one of the vehicles that was struck gave chase, catching up with the suspect on a dead-end where an altercation ensued.
The suspect ran from the scene and no arrests have yet been made.
One person was sent to hospital with injuries, and five damaged vehicles were towed from the area, two of which were seized as part of the investigation.
