Irving Oil has filed a second application with the federal government to ship oil from Newfoundland to New Brunswick.
The Financial Post says Irving wants to use a foreign-flagged tanker to ship oil from Whiffen Head, Placentia Bay, to Saint John in June and July.
The first application sought permission to ship oil between the two provinces from April 25 to May 25. The most recent proposal involves loading oil in Newfoundland from late June to late July and shipping it to Saint John.
The company wants permission to use foreign tankers as the suitable ones in the Canadian fleet are already in long-term use according to the Post.
Most of the oil used by Irving comes from Saudi Arabia but that supply line has been all but cut off.
