The Liberals say they have uncovered information which shows not one, but two staffers in the Premier’s Office are being, or were recently paid through inappropriate means.
The opposition has been highly critical of government for paying Dr. Des Whelan through MCP instead of funds allocated to the Premier’s Office; now, the MHA for the southwest coast, Michael King, says they have found out that Steve Outhouse, who was Premier Tony Wakeham’s deputy chief of staff for a short time after the election, was secretly being paid through Cabinet Secretariat as professional services to his consulting company.
MHA Craig Pardy, the minister of finance, told King and the Legislature yesterday that taxpayers are still way ahead under the PC regime.
Liberal Leader John Hogan says if Government followed proper procedure, the bill for the premiers office would be far ahead of the previous administration.
