The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is set to release its investigation report into the 2023 implosion of the Titan submersible that claimed the lives of five people off the coast of Newfoundland.
The U.S. Coast Guard released its report last year, concluding that owner OceanGate failed to “follow established engineering protocols for safety, testing, and maintenance of their submersible.”
The Titan was the brainchild of Stockton Rush who died in the implosion along with navigator Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani/British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman, and Hamish Harding.
The submersible went silent while on its way down to the site of the Titanic on June 18, 2023. After an extensive search involving international resources, the wreckage of the Titan was located several days later on the ocean floor.
The TSB will release its report and six recommendations on Wednesday at 11:30 Newfoundland time.
VOCM News will have the details as they become available.
