The weather is causing havoc for ferry travel on the Cabot Strait. The Highlanders left Port aux Basques last night at about 8:00 and made it to North Sydney early this morning, but it has been unable to dock and is still moored in the harbour this morning.
There is no word on when the passenger ferry will dock as winds are from the northeast with gusts to 70km/h today through tonight. They will ease by tomorrow morning.
All other crossings for today and tomorrow morning have been canceled by Marine Atlantic.
A slow-moving low pressure system continues to lie to the south of Newfoundland.
