Ottawa has set aside more than $20 million for a new mental health and addictions facility in Sheshatshiu.
The 14,800-square-foot building will provide treatment, detox, and counselling. It will also offer wellness services that blend traditional Innu healing practices and land-based activities with modern therapeutic programs.
Officials say the new center will improve local access to care and reduce the community’s reliance on out-of-province facilities.
