Diesel prices continue their march toward $3 a litre with another hike on the weekend of about 7 cents.
For example, it costs about $2.95 on parts of the south coast of the island, including Harbour Breton, and $2.98 in Churchill Falls. In metro, diesel costs about $2.85.
It is the most expensive of the transportation and heating fuels.
Opposition parties have been calling on the provincial government to remove the rest of the gas tax, about 7 cents per litre. Liberal Leader John Hogan says that would make a big difference.
The Public Utilities Board will deliver its next price schedule at midnight.
