High fuel prices are playing a role in many of the things we do or choose not to do these days, a situation which professionals who help people through tough financial times are all too familiar with.
Al Antle, the interim executive director of Credit Counselling Services, says it makes for difficult conversations as they broach topics such as carpooling.
One family, which included four teenagers who shone in their chosen sports, was wondering where to find the extra money for gas to keep up with the extra-curricular schedule.
They were spending about $700 a month on gas but now they have to come up with an extra $300 and they don’t know where to find it,” Antle says. “So the parents had to sit down with them to discuss carpooling.”
Antle was on Your Money with Nancy Sneddon of BDO on VOCM. The program airs Saturday at 3:00 and Tuesday at 7:00.
