The provincial government confirms it will not be renewing its controversial sponsorship deal with an English soccer team.
The former Liberal government announced the deal in 2024, which would see players on Barrow AFC don the province’s name on their jerseys for a price of $171,000.
The government of the day defended the spending, touting it as an immigration initiative that would put more eyes on the province.
In a statement to VOCM News, government says it “cannot tie any clear outcomes to this initiative,” and it will not be renewing the agreement when in concludes on June 1st.
