The town of Small Point – Broad Cove – Blackhead – Adam’s Cove has a gathering planned to mark the anniversary of the first of a series of wildfires that destroyed hundreds of structures on the Conception Bay North Shore last year.
The fire in Adam’s Cove in early May razed a number of properties, and became a harbinger of the destruction yet to come when fire roared through a total of nine communities from Kingston to Northern Bay in August.
Mayor Curtis Delaney says the fires are never far from residents’ minds and they wanted to acknowledge the year that was, while moving past what happened and recognize the resilience of the people of the north shore.
The gathering will take place on Thursday, May 7th at 2:00 at the site of the Adam’s Cove Heritage School which was destroyed in the August fires.
