The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says there has been no further movement in the investigation into the discovery of a severed head off Minerals Road in CBS 25 years ago.
A forensic recreation of the severed head found near Minerals Road in CBS , released to the public in 2011 by RNC (VOCM News)
In 2011 police released an updated forensic recreation of the mystery man’s features in hopes that he could be identified.
There was a major breakthrough in the case two years ago when genetic genealogy identified the remains as belonging to Temistocle or ‘Temy’ Casas of Cuba.
Casas arrived in Quebec from Cuba on a tourist visa in April of 1992, but there was no record of him coming to Newfoundland. Investigators believe he was in his 30s and died sometime in 1997 or 1998.
His cause of death, and how his head ended up in Newfoundland, is part of the investigation.
RNC put out a public plea for information to try to track Casa’s movements and shed light on his death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000 or report@rnc.gov.nl.ca .
