A longtime marine safety advocate has taken over from Barry Fordham as the chair of the Food Fishery Forum, at least on an interim basis.
Merv Wiseman says Fordham, having achieved a seven day a week food fishery in many parts of the province, has decided to step back from the position.
However, Wiseman told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan that they felt there was more work to do.
“We felt that we had gained a level of respect, a level of momentum…and some gains…in making codfish more accessible…and we felt it would be a shame to just drop it.” He says, “it’s our feeling that perhaps we should perhaps grow it a little more, enlarge it, strengthen it.”
