NDP Leader Jim Dinn has written the Premier seeking clarification on the format to be used for a special sitting of the House of Assembly to debate the new Churchill Falls agreement.
The premier has committed to reopening the legislature on September 14th to allow MHAs to examine, question and debate the new agreement.
Dinn says during debate on the 2024 MOU, the house was opened for four days, three of which were taken up with questions for the negotiating team, Hydro official and others.
He wants to know if the format used will mirror that used in 2025, with three days of expert testimony followed by debate.
He also wants to know who will be called to the chamber to answer questions, and whether MHAs will be granted funding to engage their own experts to help analyse the deal.
