Job action is looming at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.
According to CUPE, local 4386 and the city have reached an impasse, meaning they could be in a legal position to strike or be locked out as early as October 10th.
Affected workers are responsible for “every aspect” of the Civic Centre, including creating the ice and setting up for events.
It seems as though wages are at the heart of the issue.
Local president Craig Gardner says representatives from the city keep bringing the “same wage offer” back to the table, which has been “soundly rejected” by its members.
Despite the impasse, CUPE has agreed to another bargaining date on October 19th.
