The Tactics and Rescue Unit had to be called in to arrest a man in connection with a random assault in the city’s downtown early this morning.
RNC say a man reported that he had been assaulted on Water Street near the intersection of Beck’s Cove around 12:30.
The victim did not know his assailant, who fled the scene, and did not require hospitalization for his injuries.
Officers tracked a suspect vehicle down to a home in the west end around 1:00 this morning, and because those inside refused to co-operate, the Tactics and Rescue Unit had to be called in.
RNC say 34-year-old Zackary Burden was taken into custody around 5:00 without further incident.
Charged with assault causing bodily harm, he was held in custody to appear in court.
It’s the latest in a series of random assaults reported in the downtown in recent weeks.
