RCMP are warning of yet another telephone scam making the rounds.
In the latest instance, someone in Harbour Grace was contacted by a person claiming to be from their bank, and used personal information to make the call seem legitimate.
The scammer then attempted to convince the victim to purchase gift cards and provide them with the information, which the person did not do and instead reported the situation to police.
The RCMP remind that fraudsters can use personal information obtained illegally to try to convince someone that they are who they are claiming to be.
They urge people to slow the process down, ask questions, and reach out to the business directly to confirm any requests.
