He’s been charged with flight from police, but in the end, the fact that a 42-year-old’s stolen ATV ran out of gas is what ultimately led to his arrest.
Holyrood RCMP were contacted on Saturday after an ATV was stolen from Avondale. Later that evening police came across a man driving the stolen machine on Cemetery Road in Colliers.
When the driver spotted the officer, he attempted to cover his face and fled – speeding away on the ATV.
Patrol officers eventually located the driver pushing the machine in the community of Middle Arm after it ran out of gas.
RCMP say Justin Phillips has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, flight from police and failing to comply with a release order.
He was released on conditions to appear in court in June.
