The Janeway Foundation is offering its thanks to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador following another successful Children’s Miracle Network telethon.
The 42nd annual event raised over $2.8 million towards the purchase of new pediatric equipment, including an ultrasound and MRI goggles.
CEO of the Janeway Foundation, Rebecca Dutton says the goggles play movies and otherwise distract young children to keep them calm during MRI scans.
She says she’s always amazed by the generosity of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
“Honestly, every time it ticks up, every hour, I think, ‘amazing, we’re going to be able to buy those MRI goggles,’ and I’m filling up thinking about it.”
“Every time (I look at the donation board) I think, okay, awesome, we’re one step closer to the ultrasound machine, or one step closer to whatever piece of equipment, because that’s how we work all year. We make the commitment to the Janeway at the beginning of the year.”
